Reward Types

Vora supports five reward types, each designed for different incentive scenarios. Understanding when to use each type helps you craft rewards that resonate with your community.

Discount Code

Best for: E-commerce brands, SaaS products, subscription services

A discount code reward directs voters to an external link (your store, checkout page, or landing page) where they can apply a code or claim their discount.

Setup fields:

  • Title — e.g., "25% Off Your Next Order"

  • Email Instruction — Explain how to use the code (e.g., "Enter code VOTE25 at checkout")

  • External Link — URL where voters claim the discount (e.g., your Shopify store)

How it works for voters:

  1. Voter receives email with instructions and a "Claim Reward" button

  2. Button links to your external URL

  3. Voter applies the code/follows instructions on your site

Event Access

Best for: Brands with physical or virtual events, community meetups, product launches

An event access reward grants voters entry to an exclusive event — product launches, VIP meetups, webinars, or community gatherings.

Setup fields:

  • Title — e.g., "VIP Access to Summer Launch Party"

  • Email Instruction — Event details (date, time, location, dress code, etc.)

  • External Link (optional) — RSVP page or event registration

  • Is Local — Enable if the voter needs to present the QR code at the door

How it works for voters:

  1. Voter receives email with event details

  2. For local events: QR code is embedded in the email for door verification

  3. Voter presents QR at the venue; admin scans and marks as redeemed

Digital Download

Best for: Content creators, media companies, software products

A digital download reward gives voters access to exclusive digital content — wallpapers, ebooks, music tracks, early access to features, or downloadable assets.

Setup fields:

  • Title — e.g., "Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Photo Pack"

  • Email Instruction — What the download contains

  • External Link — Direct download URL or access page

How it works for voters:

  1. Voter receives email with description and a "Claim Reward" link

  2. Link opens the download page

  3. Voter accesses the content directly

Physical Prize

Best for: Retail brands, food & beverage, merchandise giveaways

A physical prize reward is a tangible item delivered to or collected by the voter — merchandise, product samples, gift boxes, or limited editions.

Setup fields:

  • Title — e.g., "Limited Edition Founder's Mug"

  • Email Instruction — How to receive the prize (shipping details, pickup location, etc.)

  • External Link (optional) — Claim form or shipping address collection

  • Is Local — Enable if voters pick up in person (enables QR verification)

How it works for voters:

  1. Voter receives email with prize details and instructions

  2. For pickup: QR code in email for in-store verification

  3. For shipping: External link to a form where they provide their address

Custom

Best for: Unique experiences, consultations, partnerships, anything that doesn't fit the above categories

The custom type is a catch-all for any reward you can imagine — one-on-one consultations, early product access, advisory board invitations, naming rights, or creative experiences.

Setup fields:

  • Title — e.g., "30-Minute Strategy Call with the CEO"

  • Email Instruction — Full details on what the reward is and how to claim it

  • External Link (optional) — Booking page, registration form, or info page

  • Is Local (optional) — If it requires in-person verification

Local vs. Non-Local

Any reward type can be marked as Local (the "Is Local" toggle). When enabled:

  • A QR code is embedded inline in the reward email

  • The verification page allows your staff to confirm and redeem claims

  • An 8-character alphanumeric code serves as a fallback

Use Local when: The reward requires in-person verification — events, cafes, retail pickups, pop-ups.

Skip Local when: The reward is fully digital — discount codes, downloads, links.

Usage Limit

Every reward has a usage limit — the maximum number of times a single voter can claim this reward per proposal. The default is 1 (one claim per voter per proposal).

Setting this higher is useful when:

  • A proposal allows multiple votes (Passion voting strategy)

  • You want to reward repeat engagement within the same proposal
