How Customers Vote

The voting experience for your customers is designed to be simple, secure, and transparent. Here's what happens step by step:

The Voting Process

  1. Receive the proposal link — Customers receive a link to the proposal via email, social media, your website, QR code, or any channel you choose. They can also discover proposals by visiting your space on Vora directly.

  2. Review the proposal — The proposal page displays the question being asked, a full description with context, and all the available voting options. Customers can read through everything before making a decision.

  3. Cast their vote — Once they've decided, they click Cast Vote on their chosen option.

  4. Accept Terms — Before entering their phone number, voters accept the Terms of Servicearrow-up-right and Privacy Policyarrow-up-right, which includes consent to receive post-vote notifications about proposal results.

  5. Phone verification — To ensure one person = one vote, customers verify their identity via SMS:

    • Enter their phone number

    • Receive a one-time verification code via SMS

    • Enter the code to confirm their identity

  6. Vote confirmed — Their vote is recorded and they see a confirmation screen. The vote is immutable — once cast, it cannot be changed or deleted.

  7. Blockchain verification (optional) — After voting, customers can optionally view the blockchain verification of their vote. This shows the on-chain transaction confirming their vote was recorded transparently on the blockchain (Base Mainnet for Starter and Pro, Ethereum for Enterprise).

  8. Results notification (when proposal closes) — If the organization configured close notifications, voters automatically receive an SMS and/or email with the results and any message the organization composed. See Voter Notifications for details.

What Makes Voting Secure

  • SMS verification prevents duplicate voting — each phone number can only vote once per proposal

  • Blockchain recording makes every vote tamper-proof and publicly auditable

  • Anonymous by design — votes are recorded on-chain but not linked to personal identity, preserving voter privacy while maintaining transparency

  • Quorum requirements ensure decisions have sufficient participation before results are considered valid

Voting on Mobile

The voting experience is fully responsive. Customers can vote from any device — phone, tablet, or desktop. The interface adapts automatically to screen size, and the SMS verification works identically across all devices.
