Badge Earner Voting

Badge Earner is a powerful voting eligibility mode that restricts voting to members who hold specific NFT badges. This creates exclusive voting opportunities for your most engaged community members, expert panels, or VIP groups.

How It Works

When Badge Earner mode is enabled:

  1. You select required badges — Choose one or more badges that grant voting access

  2. System checks badge ownership — When a member tries to vote, Vora verifies they own at least one required badge

  3. Eligible members vote — Only badge holders can cast votes

  4. Others are informed — Non-badge holders see which badges they need to earn

Combining with Other Features

With Proposal-Level Override

  • Org default: Badge Earner (Gold members only)

  • Specific poll: Override to Public (everyone can vote)

With Member Groups

Badge Earner works alongside member groups:

  • A proposal can require BOTH badge ownership AND group membership

  • Maximum flexibility for complex eligibility rules

Members Page Display

When Badge Earner mode is active, the Members page shows:

Voting Mode: Badge Earner Required Badges: [List of selected badges]

This transparency helps members understand voting eligibility at a glance.

Best Practices

Start Inclusive, Then Narrow

Begin with lower-tier badges required, then increase requirements as your community matures.

Communicate Requirements

Clearly explain badge requirements in proposal descriptions so members know how to become eligible.

Balance Exclusivity and Inclusion

  • Too exclusive = Low participation

  • Too inclusive = Defeats the purpose

Find the sweet spot where engaged members feel rewarded without alienating newcomers.

Multiple Badge Options

Select 2-3 badge tiers to give members multiple paths to voting eligibility:

  • Bronze badge (entry level at 50 XP)

  • Silver badge (moderate engagement at 100 XP)

  • Gold badge (high engagement at 500 XP)

Troubleshooting

"No badges configured"

You need to create badges before using Badge Earner mode. Go to Settings → Badges first.

"No badges selected"

After choosing Badge Earner mode, you must select at least one badge. Check the boxes next to badges that should grant voting access.

Member can't vote but should have badge

  1. Verify the badge is in the required list

  2. Check if the badge is still active

  3. Confirm the member's XP has crossed the badge threshold

  4. Check the member's profile for their badge status
