Overview

Vora's Voter Rewards system lets you attach real incentives to proposals — discount codes, event access, digital downloads, physical prizes, or any custom benefit — and automatically distribute them to voters when a proposal closes. It's the bridge between governance participation and tangible value: your community votes, and they're rewarded for it.

Why Rewards Matter

Customer governance works best when participation is rewarded. While XP and badges provide long-term engagement loops, Voter Rewards deliver immediate, tangible value that drives participation on the proposals that matter most.

Consider the difference:

Without Rewards
With Rewards

"Vote on our new flavor"

"Vote on our new flavor and get a free sample"

Voters participate out of interest

Voters participate out of interest and receive something in return

Engagement depends on intrinsic motivation

Engagement is amplified by concrete incentives

How It Works

The rewards system follows a simple lifecycle:

Create Reward → Attach to Proposal → Voters Vote → Proposal Closes → Rewards Distributed
                                                                            |
                                                                            v
Email with claim code + QR
                                                                            |
                                                                            v
Voter presents code / scans QR
                                                                            |
                                                                            v
                                                              Admin marks as redeemed

The Complete Flow

  1. You create a reward in your space's Rewards settings — define the title, type, instructions, and whether it requires in-person verification

  2. You attach the reward to a proposal when creating or editing it — one proposal can have multiple rewards

  3. Voters vote on the proposal as usual — they see a gift icon indicating rewards are attached

  4. The proposal closes — Vora automatically creates a claim for every eligible voter and sends them a single unified email containing results, reward details, and a View Results link

  5. Voters receive their reward via email — with the governance outcome, redemption instructions, a claim code, and (for local rewards) an inline QR code

  6. You verify and redeem claims — either through the QR verification page or the admin claims dashboard

Who Receives Rewards?

Eligibility
Who Gets It
Best For

All Voters

Every person who voted, regardless of which option they chose

Rewarding participation itself

Winner Voters

Only voters who chose the winning option

"Bet on the winner" engagement

Loser Voters

Only voters who chose a non-winning option

Consolation prizes, encouraging minority voice

Local Rewards & QR Verification

For rewards that require in-person redemption (cafes, events, retail locations), Vora includes a complete QR verification system:

  • A QR code is embedded directly in the reward email — the voter shows it at your venue

  • The QR links to a verification page where your staff can confirm the claim is valid

  • Only space admins can mark a claim as redeemed — preventing unauthorized redemption

  • Each claim has a unique 8-character code as a fallback if QR scanning isn't available

GDPR Compliance

Reward notification emails are fully GDPR-compliant under Article 6(1)(b) — Contract Performance. They are transactional service notifications tied to the voter's action (voting on a rewarded proposal), not marketing communications. This means:

  • Reward emails are not subject to marketing consent opt-outs — they're service fulfillment

  • Every email includes an Art. 21 objection notice with contact information

  • A complete audit trail is maintained in server logs for every reward email sent

  • The lawful basis is documented in both the Privacy Policyarrow-up-right and Terms of Servicearrow-up-right
