How Customers Submit Ideas

Submitting an idea to a challenge is a straightforward process for your customers. Here's the complete flow from discovery to submission, and what they need to know about the file requirements.

The Submission Process

  1. Discover the challenge - The customer finds the challenge on your space page, through the Explore page, or via a direct link you share (email, social media, website).
  2. Log in or register - Customers use their regular Vora account. The same account works for voting on proposals, submitting to challenges, and browsing Explore. If they don't have one yet, they register at voiceofthenewera.com/signup.html - it takes about a minute. They can also sign in with Google.
  3. Review the challenge brief - The challenge page shows the full description, requirements, timeline, both prize tiers (winner + voter rewards), submission rules, and any examples or guidelines you've provided.
  4. Submit their idea - Clicking Submit Idea opens the form where they provide:
  5. A title - A clear, concise name for their idea
  6. A description - Full explanation of their concept, how it works, and why it matters (you set the minimum and maximum length per challenge)
  7. Supporting images - Mockups, sketches, inspiration boards, photos
  8. Pending review - After submitting, the idea enters Pending Review status. The customer sees a confirmation and can track their submission status from their profile.
  9. Approval - You (the brand) review the submission for quality and relevance. Once approved, the idea becomes visible in the challenge's voting phase.
  10. Community voting - All approved ideas are displayed together, sorted by vote count so the leading submission rises to the top in real time. Registered users can browse, compare, and vote for their favourites. Each user gets one vote per challenge.
  11. Winners announced - When the voting phase ends, you announce winners. Winners are displayed on the challenge page and notified by email; every eligible voter receives the voter-reward email with their personal voting code.

File Requirements

Vora enforces strict upload limits to protect your disk budget and to keep submissions on the platform consistent. Customers see these limits inline on the submission form, and the form rejects oversized or wrong-format files before they upload (saving them and you the round trip).

Constraint Limit
File types PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WebP only
File size Up to 2.5 MB per image
Image dimensions Up to 2500 x 2500 px per image
Image count Between min_images and max_images per challenge (you set both - defaults are 1 and 4)

If a customer tries to upload a PDF, an SVG, a HEIC, a TIFF, a renamed executable, or an oversized PNG, the form refuses it with a clear message and asks for a smaller or correctly-formatted version.

Why these limits

  • Strict type whitelist - SVG can carry XSS payloads; HEIC and TIFF can be decompression bombs; renamed .exe files can be planted via mismatched content-type. Vora sniffs the magic bytes server-side and rejects anything that isn't a real bitmap.
  • 2.5 MB and 2500 px - Plenty of room for high-quality mockups and inspiration boards while keeping the average submission compact enough that hundreds of voters can browse them on mobile without burning data.

Helping customers prepare files

If your audience often submits oversized files, you can include a one-liner in your challenge brief:

"Please upload PNG/JPG/WebP files under 2.5 MB and 2500 x 2500 px. Most phone photos work as-is; downsize larger images first."

The form's hint text already says this, but a callout in the brief sets expectations earlier.

Key Points for Customers

  • One account for everything - The same Vora account works for voting on proposals, submitting ideas, and browsing the Explore page. No separate registration needed.
  • Edit before approval - Customers can update their submission (title, description, images) while it's still in Pending Review status.
  • Track submissions - The "My Profile" dropdown link lets customers see all their past submissions and their current status, plus the voting codes for any rewarded challenges they've earned codes for.
